Ayurveda states that every person is part of the universe and is made up of the same elements as nature. These elements are space, air, fire, water and earth. Space can be seen as the cavity in the organs, the space in which we live, air causes movement in our body, fire is needed to digest our food, water is also needed to stay alive and earth provides stability and creates life. Just think of a seed that is put in the soil to germinate.

A combination of these elements creates three life energies that play a very important role in maintaining our health.

These 3 life energies are: wind energy, fire energy and earth energy.

  1. Wind energy: - is made up of the elements of space and air. It is the principle of movement and is responsible for the movement processes in our body, the nervous system and the breathing. When the wind energy is in balance, people feel full of energy, cheerful, enthusiastic and creative. The mind is clear and awake.
  2. Fire energy: - Is composed of the elements fire and water ,it is responsible for the metabolic processes. It regulates digestion, metabolism and body temperature. When the fire energy is in balance then this ensures satisfaction, energy, fluency, good digestion, a clear mind and good eyesight.
  3. Earth energy: - is made up of the elements earth and water. It provides structure in the body, gives firmness and stability to the body and includes fluid management balance. When the earth energy is in balance it provides strength, endurance, a strong immune system, patience and psychological stability.

When these body energies are in balance, the body will be healthy and strong. When a disturbance occurs in one of these body energies, a disturbance occurs in the body and physical discomfort can occur. A body energy can be disturbed by emotions, wrong lifestyle and diet, wrong drink (alcohol, coffee, soda), medication use, smoking.

Purpose of Ayurveda

  • Maintaining good health
  • Ensuring balance recovery when physical discomfort occurs. This will be done through an adjustment of lifestyle and diet, massages, specific treatments and / or herbs.
